Dear Elsie,

I was very saddened to learn of the death of Michel, whom I hadn't seen in years.

As you know Elsie I had a sincere personal and professional esteem for Michel, who always showed me a very estimable and comforting kindness as a young researcher.

I also remember him, on the occasion of the premiere of a film on the struggle for non-statutory status in which he had participated. I was very impressed by his testimony. I also know all the militant commitments you both had. They have left a lasting mark on a way of thinking and of being an intellectual within the CSU: on the front line in terms of science, on the front line in terms of political commitments.

Michel was one of the founders of the laboratory and his work for international recognition has largely contributed to the CSU's reputation.

For all these reasons, we are infinitely indebted to him.

You were both a couple of intellectuals and scientists, so complicit and so beautiful to watch living together, so warm-hearted.
